Thursday Update

Today we have been more encouraged by Peter’s progress. He has been responsive to us, even under light sedation. The doctor has told us that Peter is being more intentional in his movements. But when he starts trying to move too much he gets pretty agitated and they have to give him more sedative.

The doctors have also been telling us about our rehab options for Peter. We are still unsure of the time frame for this since Peter hasn’t woken up yet. The tracheotomy and feeding tube are scheduled to be put in tomorrow.

Here are the things you can pray for:

1) Pray for a full recovery in Peter’s body, and especially his brain.

2) Pray that God will give mom and dad wisdom as they evaluate the different rehab options and other long-term decisions for Peter’s care.

3) Continue to pray that Peter will wake up in God’s timing and that God will give him peace through this.

4) Pray that the tracheotomy and feeding tube procedure would go smoothly.

5) Continue to pray against infection. As far as we know, Pete’s pneumonia is under control, so that is a good thing.

6) Continue to pray for the health of the family as we care for Peter. We don’t want to miss any chance we have to be with him because of sickness.

For the family,

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our afflictions, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.” 1 Corinthians 1: 3-5

I will rejoice and be glad in Thy lovingkindness, because Thou hast seen my affliction; Thou hast known the troubles of my soul….Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am in distress; my eye is wasted away from grief, my soul and my body also….How great is Thy goodness, which Thou hast stored up for those who fear Thee, which Thou hast wrought for those who take refuge in Thee….Blessed be the Lord, for He has made marvelous His lovingkindness to me in a beseiged city….Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who hope in the Lord (Psalm 31).
