Saturday Update

Late last night the doctors performed the tracheotomy and feeding tube procedures and they went very well. Peter looks much more comfortable with the trach.

Peter has been off sedation since 7:00 a.m. and has had a very quiet day. We are not too worried that he hasn’t woken up yet since he was under general anesthesia for the surgery. It’s not uncommon to have a day with slower progress after a few exciting days.

Here are the main prayers concerns right now:

1) Peter’s fever. Peter is on an antibiotic for the pneumonia but his fever is still 103. The nurses are getting cultures done to try to localize the problem so they can treat it effectively.

2) Peter is in his own coma, so be in prayer that his brain/head will be restored and that he will wake up and be able to regain full usage of his brain.

3) Pray that Peter will be able to breathe on his own. The RT is going to start giving him challenges to help him learn to breathe without the ventilator.

4) Continue to pray for the health/rest of the family.

5) Continue to pray for the wisdom of dad and mom as they make decisions for Peter’s care.

Thank you all!

For the family,

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?” Jer. 32:27

    From Isaiah 43:
“But now, thus says the Lord, your Creator [Helms family], and He who formed [Peter], ‘DO NOT FEAR, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! When you pass through the waters, I WILL BE WITH YOU; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, nor will the flame burn you. For I AM the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior….Since you are precious in My sight, since you are honored and I love you,….DO NOT FEAR, for I AM with you….[I have created you for My glory – 43:7b].'”
