08.15.10 – Sunday Update

Things are still relatively quiet with Peter and we are gradually moving into a routine with him. The respiratory therapists are still trying to wean Peter off the ventilator. They usually challenge Pete to breathe on his own in the mornings and daytime, then they put Peter back on the ventilator at night to help him rest. This is progressing, but slowly.

Peter’s responsiveness is still minimal, but there are small daily responses to encourage us.

Here is what you can pray for:

1. Pray that Peter’s agitation will get better. We don’t know if the problems with his heart rate/breathing/fever are due to pain or the fact that his brain can’t regulate those things right now because of his injury.

2. Pray that if Pete is in pain, he will be treated with just enough narcotic to help the pain, but not too much to keep him from progressing in waking up.

3. Pray that we can talk with the nutritionists and doctors to make some slight dietary changes we think could help him.

4. Pray that Pete will continue to make progress breathing on his own.

5. Pray for our continued health, stamina, patience, and peace.

6. Pray for Peter’s full recovery.

7. Pray for the nursing staff and doctors.

Thank you all so much.

For the family,
Hope

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” James 1:2-4

As you wrote today (and thank you, dear Hope, for your faithful service to the many who are praying!), “…let steadfastness have its full effect….” To that I would add, from Job 23, “…When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold….” Make it so, O God, to the eternal praise of Your glory.
